Some say love, it is a.........record.

I love how this record came out, and I adore the people that it went to.  And did Bette Midler just completely nail that performance in The Rose or what?  She is one of my all-time heroes.  Netflix that sucker, if you haven't already.

Open your eyes. Look up to the skies and see.

Queen.  News of the World.  Luckily, this record came to me with a huge scratch - or I would not have painted it.  Because Queen is kind of.......shall we say.....sacred and awesome.  Some records you just don't mess with. But this one was already a car ride away from the garbage, due to its unplayability.  And now it's art.  And it lives in San Francisco, with a handsome genius who I'm very proud to call my cousin.

The night is young and full of possibilities

I don't usually paint 45s, but this one came out really perky.  Anita Ward - Ring My Bell!
It lives in Edmonds, WA, with the fabulous Elliot and Jodi.

Copper

A very neutral and tonal-colored Henry Mancini record for a person in Texas.  Lots of copper and silver accents!

Алло

I love this Russian album.  I really do.

Purple purple purple

My all-time favorite number: 3.  I have no idea what the songs were on this album, or even what kind of music it was.  But I'll tell you what - this very purple (*much more deep and vibrant purple in person) record contains lots of good juju and went to a judge who said it was one of the coolest things he ever got.  The person who purchased it said that 3 was also her favorite number.
That there is some good taste, my friends.
This record was brought to you today by the number THREE and the color PURPLE.

Silver

This metallic silver beauty hangs in my living room.

My friend Jamie

The mandala style record above was done in brown, red, and gold.
I made it for my dear friend Jamie in Texas.

We could walk around all day long

Another vibrant 45, courtesy of John Cougar Mellencamp.
This was done in a flatter, non-glossy style as an experiment.  Inspired by my incredibly talented friend, OneSevenNine, who is my favorite local artist and the coolest chick in all of Seattle, I'll tell you what.

Shoot that poison arrow

Super vibrant greens, blues, and brown on this ABC 45.
Although I was never a huge new wave fan, it takes me right back to the old 1982 MTV days of my youth.  We high school freshman were the generation MTV was invented for.  We watched it launch from the launchpad, followed by the Buggles. And now MTV isn't even MTV anymore and we are the demographic it couldn't care less about.  Things change...

Sippin' on a cherry soda pop

Brandy, by The O'Jays.  This record is pretty like shiny candy!  It is one of my smaller paintings, done on a 45 rpm record.

What is Life?

Here is a record painted in honor of Ray Charles, one of my heroes.  It hangs in an office now.
I had the privilege of seeing Ray Charles for my 11th birthday, at the now demolished Tower Theater in Houston.  It was one of the biggest thrills of my life.  Part of his encore included playing The Yellow Rose of Texas and the crowd went insane for it.  You know how proud Texans are...

Eyes of the World

This Wake of the Flood record was specially requested for a Grateful Dead lover living in Portland, OR.
I really love how it came out.

There's a message floating in the air

This record was painted for my friend, Kathy, in New Mexico.  She had asked me randomly if I had this album, and I did not.  But one day, just a few months later, I was at Goodwill looking for records, and this one was on the front of one of the stacks and jumped right into my basket.
Oh hai, Osmonds.
Really, it was just like that.
I know you'd like to hear and see this incredible song. Here ya go.  Man, I love this song.
