The Led was gotten out.

This was formerly a Led Zeppelin album.  It was lovingly painted with some wild blues and purples, with copper metallic accents.  And now it belongs to the Teach Like a Rock Star folks!

This record has a shimmery, silver undercoat with light blue and black detailing.

It has gone to live in a blue and white room in the Seattle area.

Long time, no see

This incredibly detailed record went to a very nice lady, somewhere in The Republic of Etsyland.

Happy Father's Day! Love, Carly Simon

This sweet record was painted for a father in Gig Harbor, who happens to love Carly Simon.  I am deeply amused by that.  This family is pretty awesome, on the whole.  I wanted to paint something simple, but bold with vibrant colors that was very flowy and flowery.  It came out lovely.  Happy Father's Day!

Seen enough fences to last a lifetime.

For a fun change, I reverted to painting in my spontaneous, freewheeling style from a few years ago. I love the glossy black against the colors.  It gives me flashbacks of growing up in our Texas house, whose contents and appliances were lovingly painted with psychedelic designs by my beloved late Aunt Betty with her abstract designs in the 60s. What?  Didn't everyone have a refrigerator in their dining room painted with fluorescent pink and turquoise seaweed and anenome?

My aunt was a pioneer of innovative coloring books for children, and believed that people needed to keep their creativity alive in their leisure time, by avoiding the conventional and expected.  The usual coloring books of the day that kids spent time using were stifling to young minds (you know, before everything was electronic and made of plastic, and back when people used their HANDS + BRAINS to do and make things).  And she was totally right.

This far-out record went to live in an incredible house in California.  It is comforting to know that it is surrounded by beautiful works of art and lovely people, so it will never be alone.

Here is the other record that now lives in Canada with the beautiful Siobhan.  Super colorful and perky, like the lovely person that owns it now.  It happens to hang on a violet-colored wall and it looks f-ing great.  Godspeed, Kajagoogoo. And hush, hush.

The mind's true liberation

This record is The Age of Aquarius, by The 5th Dimension.  Oh, I love this record.  The song Aquarius has special meaning for me.  I grew up singing and performing an "Aquarius medley" (in a musical theater group in my hometown of Houston) as a young teen many, many, many times.  (Oh, the days of "medleys"...do theater people still do those?)

Thank you hippie people, for writing this awesome song from Hair, and letting The 5th Dimension record such a fabulous edition of it.

This record went to Colorado!

This record has come through the pod bay door, Hal.

It was formerly the soundtrack to 2001:  A Space Odyssey.  (One of the best films ever made, in my opinion.)

And - -  just like the 4-million-year-old black monolith that emits a single, very powerful radio emission, the origin of this record is a total mystery.

It now lives in Los Angeles.

This beautiful purple-violet-green gem toned painting was formerly Gladys Knight and the Pips!  This was made for a strong and feminine gal, who is giving it to her own strong and feminine friend.  Viva la woman!  I think it came out super cool and I do love me some purple.

Big Country Hits with Burl

This record was Burl Ives' The Big Country Hits, but now it is very psychedelic.  A funny connection to Burl:  my uncle Irving was once one of Mr. Ives' private physicians.  So I felt a closeness to this record as I painted it, because Burl Ives was a great guy.  I've heard the stories.  You are my sunshine, Burl.

These Boots...

My love for Nancy Sinatra inspired this wacky and lively heart design.  Here's a little secret:
One night, a few years back, I drank a handful of Gray Goose screwdrivers and watched about 3 hours of just Nancy Sinatra videos on YouTube.  She is a special lady.

This record recently got auctioned off by a friend in the Art Car community of Houston, in honor of my sister-in-law.  In case you didn't know it, Houston is THE art car capital of the world, and my extraordinary artist sister-in-law, Eve, is the Creator and Queen of the Sock Monkey Mobile.

Back in 2011...I got some glitter paint.

This record is secretly one of my favorites.  The base is yellow and green with some intense green glitter.  Topped off with some funky black.  I was watching a lot of children's television programming when I painted this one.

Although I was never a huge new wave fan, it takes me right back to the old 1982 MTV days of my youth.  We high school freshman were the generation MTV was invented for.  We watched it launch from the launchpad, followed by the Buggles. And now MTV isn't even MTV anymore and we are the demographic it couldn't care less about.  Things change...

What is Life?

Here is a record painted in honor of Ray Charles, one of my heroes.  It hangs in an office now.

I had the privilege of seeing Ray Charles for my 11th birthday, at the now demolished Tower Theater in Houston.  It was one of the biggest thrills of my life.  Part of his encore included playing The Yellow Rose of Texas and the crowd went insane for it.  You know how proud Texans are...
